It's true that MS has TONS of cash, (literally, probably :P), but that doesn't mean that they invest more in R&D. As a matter of fact, if you think about it (or take a look around), most R&D is done by the smaller start-ups -- the entrepreneurs, the innovators -- and not by the large corporations. Rich companies tend to wait for a new technology to approach or reach maturity, and then acquire it with their cash.
Anyhow, on a slightly different note, I'm really tired of seeing all the spam in this thread (not referring to you Toby_Wild). The thread starter stated on the second page that he had already decided on what to do, and yet people still respond with short and pointless posts months later with "advice" (ie. 'go for linux', 'windows sux'). They don't even *explain* their choice. And this happens in a majority of the threads on this forum. Why don't the moderators do something about this? All of these spammers deserve to get warned, or at least they should not qualify for the domain and reseller as quickly as the honest and contributing members like Toby_Wild.
