so, how much does it cost to be "in" to register domains? how do you establish yourself as a (direct) domain registrar?

do you know how much money is to have something like godaddy

wildwestdomains.com is a part of godaddy, they don't use them. It's vice versa if anything.

ICANN does control that. And, anyone can become a registrar, as long as you fill out the paperwork and pay around $3000 in fees. Its useless if that's not your main focus.
