one thing most people do when they are just starting out as a host, is they spend too much moeny when starting out. There is no need to start out with a dedicated server, or a high end reseller plan! The best thing to do is start with a small plan, and upgrade it as and when you need the space. This is the most cost effective solution, as it will enable you to make a profit EVERY month, and expand this profit as you expand your hosting size. And a good way to start is do as much as you can yourself, what you do is free, which is a more cost effective thing to do than pay other people to do all the work for you.
