I guess many big companies are already advertising on the popular forums, it may possible that your advertisement may get less exposure, secondly the members are concentrating more on the topic/thread and posting rather than looking for advertisment on the forum. If you add signature people will take notice of your site and may click on it to visit your site. This will be beneficial to increase traffic on your site through creating your own web presence on particular forum.

I guess if you suply a good service and have good customer support your clients will spread the word for you so that makes the job a little easyer. But yeah as said about use forum sigs and other things such as email to your advantage.

there are many sources you can use these days and i guess many more only to come and the size of the availible sources is yet to grow but remember there is such thing as to over advertise your companys service which some people will consider spam and wont tolerate it at all, so take care.

For starting a web hosting company you need to have a proper business plan, capital, research and analysis of the market. You should have a sound knowledge of server management and a good marketing strategy, you should be able to identify and focus on targeted customers, Once you get started you should create your online presence.

I think starting with a reseller account will be a good option for you.
