 | Advice for dedicated server Hello....
I need some advice on what kind of dedicated server i should buy...
My minimum requirements are:
80GB HD space
2000GB bandwidth
I plan on just hosting one site that has outgrown its shared hosting account, so will be running L.A.M.P, as well as probably set up a bittorrent client to run during slow periods.
My site is a download site... considering i only use 2000GB bw/mo, would there be any noticeable difference between a 10Mbit port and a 100Mbit one? (download speed is a priority, but not the highest one we have)
We have a low budget, but need reasonable support & good uptime. Can you guys tell me what sort of CPU/RAM/ price point i will need to be looking at? Any host recommendations?
Thanks
- Albie
Edit: Perhaps a VPS might be a better option? what do you guys think? |

 | I too would second hostgator. Their cheapest option would be enough for you. |

 | Hi,Albie! For a download site it's better to go for 100Mbps port. This is how to make your visitors feel comfortable and come back to your site. |

 | Albie, you should definitely choose the one with 100Mbps port, the price will be the same, but your customers will appreciate it, is 30 people are downloading the files from your site at the same time, the speed will be a few times faster, if you use 100Mbps.
If you haven't made up your mind, consider ahosting.biz dedicated offers. |
