Hello everyone,

Happy new year!

Some of my partners may go mad on this post however I think I really need to say that.

Don't go for a hosting plan only because a web host offers plenty of bandwidth and space. You don't need them. An average web site do not use more than 5 gigs of bandwidth per month. When it comes to space I can understand that someone may need 2 gigs of storage for pictures, video or large files. However I do not suggest you to follow the "big numbers".

There a lot of site owners that run streaming audio/video or other aplications that need a lot of space and bandwidth. But those websites are not too many.

I can suggest you to pay more attention on features companies offer, to uptime and reliability. Always go for a host that answer promptly on your e-mail or support ticlets.

Hi aeromit. You seem rather well-versed in this field. Do you have any reliable free hosting to recommend? Some space for media would be good; I do not need humongous space.

that's true. all those unlimited space free hosts don't host proper content websites

Unfortunately I've never paid attention on free service providers. You can probably find a decent one but if you need a reliable service I strongly suggest everyone to pay.

The problem with free hosts is they need to find some sort of revenue so they put up advertisments on your site which doesn't look good at times. A marketing strategy adopted by some hosts is providing unlimited space or bandwidth in a plan which is just not possible.

Before selecting a web hosting company look if they offer a free trial just to check out the service.

Support is important too, drop a ticket and analyse the response time. If they respond fast with satisfactory solution, you have found a reliable web hosting company.

Don't go for company offering cheap plans, if you do, don't expect quality service. You can't get both quality and price, and you may have to compromise on one aspect at least.

Well Free trial is not necessary if a company provides money back guarantee.

Whatever you choose whether free trial or money back guarantee it ensures customer satisfaction. After the free trial period is over then the client can judge the service and decide whether he wants to buy the plan or not. In case of money back guarantee the money is refunded if the client is not satisfied with the service in the guarantee period.
