I briefly (a year or so) helped manage a startup webhost, and with two people it went pretty smoothly. However, you'll want a sort-of dedicated customer service person/support team if you start to get more than a couple dozen clients. I'm sure anyone else with any experience can tell you firsthand how annoying at times it can be to deal with "newbie" customers or others that are demanding or do illegal things.

the best thing is to get a resller account which also provides support for your clients that way. You can run the whole show. But such reseller accounts are hard to find and usually cost more.

I think if a single person can create history then there is no reason why a single person cannot run a small web host. If you dare then you can win.

Small webhost = one person is enough.
Dedicated hosting = need a bit more since one for server management, one for support, one for sales and one manager (this is minimum i think)

Right! If you can sit up 24 hrs for Customer support.. twice as Lol... Actually two will be nice even if they are working full time! Your Customer supprt will decide the expansion of your business... So if you have two ppl working, u'll need more soon.. Else you'll always be only one (no more required)..

I think its more about management then about people. Sometimes even a single person can do better than 4 ppl put together!!
