 | How to: Diference between Dedicated & Shared server
Hello all,
Forgive me if I say anything wrong. I am a noob. Is it possible to tell whether a site is hosted on a shared or dedicated server other than going to the hoster?...
I am trying to find out were my site is hosted: dedicated, vps or shared. I have access to the CP and on one of the screens it says Virtual server, but I am not sure whether this is a definite sign that the server is shared/VPS.
I'd much appreciate an expert input.

| Did your provider give you root access?
Even with root access if your server is showing Virtual server you are most likely on a VPS package. | |

| Did you receive a release letter of any type when you purchased the account? This should contain the information you would need to determine what type of account it is.

| with vps you will get remote login, ssh etc, did you receive such notification?
