 | Some information about it I write here: http://24-7-solutions.net/reviews/hosting-buy.html
Take a leaf of a paper and write out important for you characteristics of a hosting. Under these characteristics pick up HSP. Read responses and testimonials the chosen companies about at forums. |

 | Kiruba, if you still need a recommendation about what to look for in a hoster, I can tell that this no one here can give you a 100% comprehensive answer, as we don't know what type of sites you are going to host and what are your priorities: uptime, support, OS, requirements in terms of disc space and traffic bandwith. I think you should start with the type os OS you need, whether your site is static written in HTML or dynamic ,using ASP, in the first case go for Linux, in the second your bet is Windows. Once you've decided on that, think about your needs in terms of disc space and bandwith, scripts you're going to run on your site, whether you are going to use ane E-commerce software. For simple personal sites a shared solution will be ok, for bigger commercial sites, planning to expand - VPS or a dedicated server will do. Make your choice and limit the initial number of hosters. The next step is your decision on the type of support you prefer. You may need phone support if you find that convenient, some prefer live support, but I find the most convenient way of support to be ticket system, if properly organized like at ahosting.biz, works great!
The next question is how much uptime you really need 99,9%, 99% or 97%, again it depends on whether your site is mission critical or not.
And of course, the question of price will limit you to choosing from a few hosters. Read their reviews and ask at forums. Good luck! |

 | For me it must be:
1. Ensuring reliable service to the customers
2. Ensuring security and privacy of systems and network, as well as the networks and systems of others
3. Should have the maintenance reputation as a responsible service provider
4. Should preserve the privacy and security of individual users
5. Should have the intensity to provide its customers access to everything the Internet has to offer.
I think this might be helpful for analysing out the hosting provider
6. Should do backup as often as possible. |

 | 1) Test their support - try out their live chat, email, phone support - ask some questions.
2) Read their agreements - Terms of Service (ToS) and/or Service Level Agreements (SLA) - do they guarantee high uptime percentage in their agreements ? - is it specified explicitly ?
3) Ask them whether they are a reseller or an actual hosting company themselves (with their down support personnel and server farm). As far as possible, go with actual hosting companies.
4) Check that they do not oversell. Overselling a little is ok. But you should avoid hosts that give you a whole truck of bananas (disk space and bandwidth) when you pay peanuts. And, trust me, you don't need a whole truck of bananas if you have a normal stomach - meaning, you don't need anything more than 5GB of space or 100GB of bandwidth if you are hosting something simple. The figures will be different if you are hosting a super duper heavy/popular site though. Don't let hosts tell you that you need super duper large space & bandwidth.
5) Go for hosts that do not need you to prepay for too many months in advance, to get good pricing (eg waive setup fees, cheaper monthly fee etc). Best if it allows you to pay month-to-month or at most, 6 months. Try not to pay 1 year or more as you should not tie yourself down to a host - you should be able to leave without losing money if they turn out to be unreliable/not good. |

 | Make sure that their service existing atleast for 2 years. Then analyse with the reviews given by the existing customers for that hosting provider. Analyse about their services, support, security, uptime ect. Hope this might help you to identify the best |
