Installing awstats is a piece of cake. Here is the steps...

Login to Root

root@localhost [~]# wget http://aleron.dl.sourceforge.net/sou...wstats-6.1.tgz

root@localhost [~]# tgz -xvzf awstats-6.1.tgz

root@localhost [~]# cd /awstats-6.1/tools/

root@localhost [~]# ./configure.pl (Follow the Setup prompt)

Awstats is now installed on to your server. If you have any questions feel free to email me or post a reply in this post.

this tutorial is almost essential since awstats is, IMO and in many others' opinions, the best stat program out there. Doesn't look too difficult either. Thanks for the guide

would like to install AWSTATS by inserting a simple piece of their code on my web page, is this possible or do I have to install the CGI on the server?

You need a full installation including CGI

Sometimes Awstats dose not get updated daily, thus you can run the script in case of cPanel servers ::
/scripts/runweblogs user name ( User name of the domain for which the awstats is not updated)
