Making money from a free host?
I assumed by now the freehost would be a thing of the past with hosting and domain names being so cheap these days.

The question I'd like to raise is,

How does a free host make money?

Assuming it is a host that is not popup/ad/banner/adwords supported.. one offering a "totally free" service?

Surely they are not run at a loss?

I am the owner of a free hosting company.
I don't need to make money with it, I got a job and the hosting is just for fun.
We have no ads on my site, don't want them.
We will start offering free .org domains soon (free for use that is).
And yes it costs some money. But we get many happy people in return.
btw we only offer 100mb free hosting, larger then 100mb has to be paid for.

Well that sounds really great, i really appreciate that you think about others and you are completely genuine, i would certainly recommend your name if someone asks for free hosting.

Yes, that's really an interesting approach to hosting business, I only hope that Keuzeserver will not quit his hobby soon, or probably, in free hosting there are no any guarantees and obligations?
And sometimes posting is required, what for?

I was looking for a good free host myself for a long time.
Now I'm renting a 15gb reseller with Cpanel and Fantastico.
Im not yet advertising with my site as it isnt finished yet.
We will start offering 3 free .ORG domains soon. (its a promotion action).
