Need Advice With Script To Show HTTPS:

Hello,

I recently purchased a very good script that I am using that also has a shopping cart attached.

I also have an ssl certificate for that domain. My problem is this:

How do I get the script to refer to the pages that the customer sees when they come to my cart as https instead of http?

I know this is a general question and each script is different. I don't want to just place the files of my "shop" folder in in my ssl directory without first checking to see how the script will know where the "shop" directory is.

The script name is Ecommerce Automation.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thank You.

That does help to get the https:// to show now. I still have a further issue if you can help.

The little "lock" icon does hot appear after using your suggestion. How do I get that to appear at the bottom of the web page?

Thanks again,

You need to purchase an SSL certificate - most hosting providers sell them. SSL certificates are similar to domains in that they are only valid for a short period of time (usually 12 months) and then have to be renewed.

Web browsers come with a list of SSL certificate authorities that they automatically trust, and therefore you need a certificate that is trusted by the major browsers (which will ensure that visitors don't get a dialog box popping up when people visit your site).

You can get various different types of SSL certificate with different levels of browser compatability, and that verify different things (e.g. your identity or address etc.). Some also include an insurance policy that covers any fraud that may occur due to insecurity of the connection - this enables you to display a "button" graphic to reassure your customers.

Make sure you take a look at the different SSL certificates available and select the most appropriate one for your purpose.

Also, you must make sure the certificate is installed correctly and you don't have any non-ssl links in the ssl page.

I think you mean links as in to images etc. - you can link (<a href...>) to another non-SSL page without any problems... it's only content included within the page that has to be loaded over SSL (https) for browsers to classify the connection as secure - along with appropriately valid/install/recognised certificate of course!

Yes, that is correct.

Hi,

The images and ads can still be a trouble for valid SSL cert, but if you do with a neat cart with limited ads then it should be all good. And for the images, just update the virtualhost cofiguration such that it does include your images folder with the valid set of SSL entries. It should be good to go then.
