While selecting a VPS server, how do I determine what is the minimum RAM I will need. Say I start with 256MB dedicated. How will I understand I will more RAM later when my applications are running. Will the server response be slow? In that case many factors will influence the server speed!

I think you would better discuss this topics with you VPS web hosting provider. if your website isn't so big 256 RAM would be fine at the beginning.

Hello tapsemi,

The RAM requirements would depend on what you are running. In some instances a VPS with 64 MB of RAM would be fine while in other situations you may need multiple gigs of RAM.

If you host a big forum,then u will need gigs of RAM. A small site then small amount of RAM is suffice.

256 mb is like very basic. if you have cpanel you may not be left with much for your applications. If you have reasonable traffic, you will need at least 378 mb ram. More the better.
