i would reccomend a local co-location to set up your server at, to get the connection and bandwidth needed

No, RustyNut, you are a bit wrong. Owning a server is very easy. You can go to a computer shop, and ask for a server. Managing it will be trouble then

i guesse thats true... getting the server running the server on the net and running hosting is the hard part.. as everyone has their own comp, and they manage with that

it is only a good idea if you have experience in that field and have some good deals to strike in terms of obtaining the necessary bandwidth and connection, as well as space/location.

its hard to get a fast connection (i have a hard time with my t1 sometimes) then if you give hosting and someone messes up a cgi or requests an installer (ioncube ect.) you have to know how to do it. I run a "on-the-side" server with a domain so i can test my skills.... learn linux or freebsd, then get a server...windows is 300% SLOWER than linux and linix is 3x slower than freebsd...
