 | Windows Or Linux Hosting?
Hi All,
Just wondering what Web Developers/Designers prefer to use for their hosting. Do they prefer Windows Hosting or Linux Hosting?
I also have a question:
What if the Web pages are designed in HTML and you find a Windows and a Linux Host offering their services for the same price. Which one will you choose?

| i think they use linux but im not sure i would prob use linux even though i use windows 4 my OS | |

Windows Hosting, PHP Hosting, DotNetNuke Hosting | people chose windows/linux through personal ppreferance, although i think linux is cheaper...
and the choice would depend on what you're used to.. | |

| I will choose linux as overall hosting service cost is less than that of window hosting and it's highly secured, stable and it is supported by free stuff. One can afford windows for personal use & Linux for server use.  | |

| Don't quote me on it but I'm sure most things are written for linux. But I know that linux is basicly the industry standard almost. | |

| It definitely is! Windows hosting is very expensive and is not used generally unless asp, or .net or frontapage Extensions n such microsoft technologies are required! Most basic ones n also many advanced ones will be in linux | |

| Yeah theres nothing wrong with windows for servers. For webhosting i would stick to linux based.. same goes for game servers. But I've seen great things done with windows operating system for LAN's. But if the operator dosnt know what they are doing as in the setting up a bad config on the server and running things they should'nt of course thats also going to make a server unstable. So you always have to be careful reguardless of teh OS
But any way back to my point, really as someone said you can use both. But i think you have to look at what supported features you need as to why you are going to have to pick one over the other. Do you have enough knowage to use the selected operating system or willing to learn... use what you know and what will work for you. | |
