ok, im starting my own hosting company and 1 of the things i have learnt about starting up is making sure you have a hook for your company that will make clients want to sign up with you and not one of the countless other companys out there...

One thing you should never try to use for your hook is the lowest price around, there will ALWAYS be someone cheaper, and if you try and compete with the larger companies you dont have a chance, they have more resources available, and can offer them at smaller prices. you should never try to compete with them because by lowering your prices, you're lowering your profit ...

there are many ways to get people to get your own hook... you just have to find your own little "niche"...

use your talents to your advantage.... or possibally host people with similare hobbys..
